How can I put my new number plates on my car?

Option #1 - Sticky fixing kit:

First of all we have the simplest and easiest way of attaching your licence plates; the sticky fixer kit. This fixing method is suitable for all types of number plates: printed, 3D gel resin and 4D laser cut acrylic. These come as a series of double sided sticky fixers/pads which can be placed upon the back of your plate, then firmly pressed against the body of your car ensuring an even contact. But first, you ought to clean down the car surface to ensure the sticky pads can adhere properly; any dirt, grease or road grime can have a negative impact on your sticky pads which may result in your lovely new plates falling off down the road! 😱 We recommend using IPA (isopropyl alcohol) on a microfibre cloth to wipe down the car beforehand.

Option #2 - Screw fixing kit:

The screw fixing kit - this one is bound to make us a Utopia Plates a little uncomfortable! For regular printed plates, this is fine more the most part and it’s a very safe way of affixing your plates. However, if you’ve just got yourself a lovely set of 3D gel resin or 4D laser cut acrylic plates, you need to exercise some caution. The positioning of where you drill the hole for the screw must be carefully chosen. You do not want to drill, or simply screw, through 3D gel or 4D acrylic letters because this is jeopardising the structure of the letter - you could potentially damage the 4D letter and the adhesive of both letter styles could be weakened due to water getting into the hole. This said, if you can drill through a space not near the letters, then potentially a screw fixing kit will work.

Option #3 - Number plate holders:

This option isn’t the most common in the UK - definitely one we see more often in the USA 🦅 - but that doesn’t mean it’s not a suitable option! You can get some pretty nice number plate surrounds with branding applicable to you, such as Audi Sport, or standard ones. which offer a slim black surround and secure fixing. These are not applicable for plates which have been shortened, as there’ll be excess space either side of the plate, but worth considering if you want a secure mounting point for your plates. Please note, these surrounds/holders often require you to attach them to the car via screws, then they hold your plates in with sticky fixers or their own mechanism.
